New Respect for AK...

So, you're a multi-millionaire professional athlete, and it's your birthday. Where do you decide to spend the evening? Disneyland?... Well, almost - Downtown Disney.

So I was cruising around the dial and thought I'd check out Angel talk on the radio. You know- to see if they said anything more about Ersty going to centerfield. (Not much more than a reference to the Steve Bisheff column in today's OC Register. ) Dino Ebel and Adam Kennedy were this week's guests as Terry Smith and Jose Mota lobbed predictable softball questions to each this evening. Dino conducted his interview via phone, but poor Adam was there in person and had to endure a stupefyingly bad rendition of Happy Birthday from the ESPNZone audience.

But Adam Kennedy is a classy guy and he answered every question with dignity. Even though he didn't realize what day the show was when he agreed to be a guest, he kept his commitment when he did. 2006 is the final year of his contract - and with the log-jam of middle infield prospects, look for him to get traded before this year's July 31st deadline while the Angels can still get something in return for him.

I can't wait to see him (and everyone else) back on the playing fields in Tempe. Spring training is just over five weeks away!

I was in the audience at ESPNZone tonight - but I was taking pictures, not singing - it sounded pretty bad in person, but AK was grinning! And he got the biggest smile on his face when he was asked if it was fun playing baseball - his face just lit up, and it shows he was sincere when he answered yes!
Also, it was originally announced that this show would be January 11th, so I'm guessing Adam agreed to appear, and was nice enough not to back out.
